This one of the mental tools might seem a little out there but bear with me.
I thought this was rubbish except that it seemed to be a recurring theme with successful athletes; they all seemed to do this.
When they were interviewed they were asked the question about being surprised about winning, and they all said no, they had won the race so many times in their head. In their minds there was no other reality except for them winning. They conditioned their minds to the point where there was no other alternative outcome.
Now if you were to tell me that in order to succeed all you have to do is think about it a little, then I would tell you to get lost, it just doesn’t work that way. However the pure volume of people who include this in their routine who do succeed is overwhelming and there is no doubt it plays a big role in the mental part of success.
What each of these athletes did was on a daily basis they spent time visualizing their success in their minds. They did it every day as a ritual; I don’t think this would work unless you did it every day.
So how can you apply this to yourself? Well, you spent a decent amount of time writing down very specific individual goals, these goals were important to you; they were personal and would make substantial differences to your life.
So choose a time each day when you can be left alone and quiet. Spend a few minutes relaxing and clearing your mind. Then clearly see yourself having just achieved each and every one of these goals. See each of these in incredible detail, see where you are, what you look like, who is around you. Feel how you would feel if you had achieved your goal. Make this vision as if it were real and had already happened. And then do this every day.
This is not the kind of thing that will work if you do it for a week and give up, try it at least for a month. For some people it has amazing effects but at the very least the next time you feel like cheating or going off plan a visual picture of your goals will spring into your mind, and you will also feel how much better its going to be to achieve your goals rather than cheat just once.
This is a super powerful tool, use it with care.
